3rd House in Astrology (1st Upchaya)

3rd house – Upchaya house Meaning of the word ” UPCHAYA” is Growth. In vedic astrology these are 3rd,6th 10th & 11th houses.These houses are important for material growth of a chart.The order of strength of these houses in incremental order : 3rd ,6th ,10th &11th house. Natural malefics in these ” Bhavas” gives excellent results provided they are in good dignity.So natural malefic such as Mars , Saturn , and the nodes (Rahu and Ketu) can / may increase the significance of a particular upchay house. Remember Mars is a natural karaka or a significator(karaktatva) of 3rd house. For example Mars in 3rd in good dignity makes a person fearless and confident. It is also the house of self-effort, curiosity, mental qualities (mentality), experience of learning and things done by using limbs. 3rd houses also reflect our early school years’ experience, short distance travel and telecommunication. If in case Mars is not in a good state or it is debilitated, it can make the person fearless to the extent of being foolish and confident to the extent of being overconfident.
